You’ll be able to pick up MLB The Show 17 on March 28th on PlayStation 4. It’s unlikely to be the main mode that gamers play, but it’s a nice addition that yet again may encourage new gamers and ties in nicely to the old school cover star. The trailer also ends with a rather cute looking retro mode. Retro Mode digs in at the dish for MLB The Show 17 with a no-doubt nostalgic moonshot, atop the expected game modes.

Everything else it shows is the high quality that you expect, including the glimpses shown of Hall of Famer cover star Ken Griffey, Jr. So the fact that the new trailer for MLB The Show 17 seems to show hints of a story mode is very promising. Those steps have been mainly story mode focused, a mode that helps bring in even more casual fans of the sport. Baseball is definitely nowhere near as popular in Europe and the inclusion of a story mode could be just what’s needed to bring in more gamers to the franchise. In recent years, though, other sport games have started to take steps that MLB The Show hasn’t. PlayStation exclusive MLB The Show is considered one of the shining beacons of sports gaming.
